Streetwalker Style

Tunic: Banana Republic
Boots: Via Spiga
Owl necklace: Portobello Market (London)

I went a little bit crazy last year trying to find the perfect over-the-knee boots (as I'm known to do when I get fixated on a specific item). The challenge was finding something that didn't make me look like I was on my way to a casting call for Pretty Woman 2. When I spotted this pair online, I knew it was meant to be. Those boots and I were soulmates . . . or solemates if you will. (You know I'm not a girl who can pass up a good shoe pun!) They were sold out online, but when has lack of availability ever stopped me? I called Bloomingdale's in Minneapolis — from my parents' kitchen in Michigan, no less. How's that for dedication? — just to double check. I felt like some sort of great shoe detective. A modern-day Sherlock Holmes. (That is, if detectives didn't solve mysteries and instead only succeeded in making themselves poor. . . .) Lo and behold, Bloomingdale's had one pair left. In my size. ON SALE. When something like that happens you know it's just meant to be. And who am I to argue with fate? Especially when it sends me the perfect pair of boots.
