Return of the Skirt Phase

Skirt: Ann Taylor
Blouse: J.Crew
Blazer: Sara Berman
Shoes: Via Spiga
Cuff bracelet: Ann Taylor (smaller version here)

Everyone has an embarrassing style moment. Unfortunately, mine was less of a moment and more of a lengthy, ongoing, cringe-inducing phase. So prolonged in fact, that it got its own name: The Skirt Phase. I wish I could say this happened long enough ago that there was some excuse for it, but it continued well into my freshman year of college. At that point I think you're at least technically considered a grownup. It was a slightly horrifying period during which I didn't meet a sweatshirt-material miniskirt I didn't love. (Let's not even get into the Ugg boots I paired them with.) I still have many of these stored in my parents' basement (much to my mother's dismay), and given enough wine they've been known to make a reappearance.

Well the skirt phase is making a comeback, and I'm embracing it. Fingers crossed it will be less embarrassing the second time around. This pretty lace skirt was one of my favorites over the summer. So much so that I just can't give it up heading into fall. The good news is I love it just as much over dark tights as I did over bare legs. Plus it was 40 degrees here yesterday — 40 DEGREES?! IN MINNEAPOLIS!? IN DECEMBER?! Let's all just be grateful I didn't bust out my bikini.
