Dress: J.Crew, Jacket: Hinge, Booties: Steve Madden Luxe, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: Ann Taylor and Simon Sebbag |
This is a trick dress. Not that I turn tricks in it à la Pretty Woman (although I totally could if I was into that sort of thing), but in the way that people are tricked by it. Not only does it look like two separate pieces, but it also somehow convinces people that I'm way classier than I actually am. (Clearly not true, since I referenced turning tricks mere moments ago.) Throwing on a dress automatically makes people assume you're fancy. I have my "aunt" Trish to thank for that life lesson. I don't really get it, since dresses take about a million times less effort than coordinating a top and bottom (seriously, who needs both?!), but that doesn't stop me from taking advantage of it. Dresses are my favorite go-to item as soon as it gets even remotely warm out. They're so comfortable, and they make getting dressed in the morning a breeze. My only complaint is that it either needs to get warm enough for me to start sporting bare legs, or I'm going to need to invest in more than one pair of tights.
I'm getting ready to head out to sunny California for a few days, so posting will probably be a little bit scarce, but hopefully I'll have plenty of fun, outdoor outfit photos when I return. (Oh, the magic of not living in the Midwest!) And rest assured they'll probably all be of fun, easy sundresses since that's literally all I'm planning to pack . . . assuming I actually ever get packed, that is.
I am going to try and wear more dresses this summer. I am not really a dress person, but you and Aunt Trish have inspired me to be fancy too.
