Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dress-Up

I wore this outfit out to eat with friends over the weekend and realized as I was taking photos in the parking lot behind the restaurant that it might have been just a teensy bit fancy for a burger pub. All the weird looks I kept getting from people confused as to why my photo shoot was taking place where they needed to park their cars didn't help either. But if you're going to a burger pub that's been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, you're pretty much one step away from being on TV yourself. Which means you need to look your best. I'd like to think I was just ready for my close-up in case a Food Network crew decided to pop in unannounced. 

In all honesty, I wore this outfit mostly in the hopes that dressing more ladylike would encourage me to eat in a similar manner. It sort of worked. I'm proud to say I only ate half of my ginormous, cheese-stuffed burger. Which I immediately followed up with ice cream. Don't judge. Self-restraint and a ladylike outfit can only get a girl so far.

I'm sure many of you already know about this, but Bloglovin' is a great way to follow all your favorite blogs and discover some fun new ones . . . not that I need more ways to waste time. But I'm all for anything that makes an attempt to keep me more organized, so this is pretty much perfection. It keeps track of blogs you read on a regular basis and updates you when a new post goes up. All my faves, up-to-date and right on one page? Yes, please!

What a Girl Wants

This is way too late to be considered a Christmas list, but just because I can't get my act together to have this ready in time for the holidays doesn't mean I want any of these things any less. It just means I'll have to buy them for myself. (It totally counts as the spirit of giving if you give things to yourself, right?) Better watch your back, after-Christmas sales. I'm coming for you.

• A nice, normal black belt: When you have a rack full of ridiculous belts, sometimes it's hard to find something to wear when you just want to make sure your pants stay up. Plus, this would be perfect for wearing with jeans when I want to tuck things in and pretend I'm a grownup.

• A faux fur vest/jacket (or faux fur anything, really): I've been a faux fur addict lately, as anyone who has shopped with me can attest to. Vests, jackets,  sweaters, blankets, pillows, you name it — if it's faux fur, I want it. Seriously, my apartment is starting to look like some sort of hunting lodge/fur trapper's retreat.

• A wear-with-everything chambray shirt: I've come to realize that pretty much everything in my wardrobe would benefit from the addition of a great chambray shirt. Pants, skirts, sweaters . . . this is what they're all longing for. Too bad J.Crew has so many, and indecisive is my middle name. . . .
